I just had to post this. Its a great tribute to John Williams, who's responsible for the scores in movies we've come to know and love. I guarantee that this would touch a special place in any geek's (or in my case, aspiring geek's) heart. It was originally written and performed by Moosebutter, an a capella comedy group.

This was sooo not fair. So four of us piled into your car to go have lunch and you decided that you must have a smoke. I mean, you're mad cool and all, but seriously, you're the only one amongst us who smokes.

Was it paining you to wind down your window fully and let the cigarette smoke waft away completely? You just had to have 90% of the 2nd hand smoke come back into the car and fill our lungs completely; maybe to tell us what we're missing. I can still feel the disastrous taste in the back of my throat from all that forced inhalation. My head soo hurts and my eyes are ringing from staying in this position for almost 20 minutes. What will I tell anyone who comes across me and smells the cigarette smoke that now fills my hair and clothes? That I don't smoke? That that burning/burnt smell is really my Pleasures perfume? "Yeah, right" they'll say, "she thinks our noses have gone on summer vacation with her ability to be honest."

Oh goodness...I'm so tired. And even when I started coughing it didn't occur to you that you should stop. AND you made us endure this all over again back from lunch.... Meeen I should have gone home to eat like I normally do.

Moral of this short story is:- Don't ride with a smoker in their car!

The straw that's breaking my back

I just want to go home. I can't seem to hold back my tears so I'm practically hiding in an unfinished trailer trying to get my mind and body back in sync. And I'm wondering, 'Is this the way I'll act whenever something I perceive as a crisis occurs?' I hope not because that would probably mean a lot more tears for me.

This is the issue - I am broke. I've been without money since the beginning of May, and from what I've been told today, I'll be without money till the end of the first week in June. Come on somebody, I'm a freaking student for crying out loud who moved joyfully and happily to be a part of this great construction project. And now for me to be paid is proving difficult? Give me a break! I have spent $2030 moving and settling in while also taking care of bills in my old apartment, which I tried getting subleased but thats another story. So right now my account is in the red; I have no milk, so I've been eating vegetables for breakfast for a week (those are gone by the way), I'll have no drinking water by Sunday, my bathwash might also be finished by then, tissue paper will definitely be gone later today, and I already walk to work so the gas is left for rainy days; Church is out of the question cos its 9.5 miles away, so how am I going to survive? I'm just tired, tired, tired, and hungry.

Well, thats been good: at least I'm not crying anymore, so I can go back to work. I rebuke any and every resentment and self-pity right now in Jesus name. After all, I still have life, and health.

My case for mobility

I perceive that my mobile use will change when I graduate from the university. At least until I’m either issued a tablet wherever I’ll work, or I change my mobile use to being chained to a desk with a desktop. Shiverrr…. The mere thought is frightening. Right now my case for mobility borders on multitasking usability, and weight: the lighter, the better. Currently at my construction internship I’ve been issued a standard ThinkPad T42, which I use for everyday things like email, Excel and Word files, and so on. Thus it has been a good three weeks since I used my tablet like before, i.e.: writing my lecture notes, drawing, and painting (in tablet mode) (since school is out for the summer), synching with my E90 for my calendar and to-do needs, using in laptop mode for regular computer use, drawing, reading and blogging in bed. And I miss it terribly.

Why has it changed? You ask. Maybe because I now have Cable TV (which I’m already bored with by the way); a wired Ethernet connection (because I moved and Comcast doesn’t supply routers – it’s the 21^st century people, and you could make money doing that), which prevents me from doing all those wireless goodies I used to (and I’m either too lazy or too gas-deprived to retrieve my wireless router from 3.5 hours away by car). So my writing has dwindled to none, and my drawing has trickled into obscurity. <color=”blue”>I sooo have to get a router or a wifi finder.</color>

I think the situation would have been different if I had a smaller machine similar to the Nokia N810, or OQO Model 02, with a wireless card or WiMax or an EV-DO connection, or maybe even a Fujitsu P1620, or a later iteration of any of those or similar devices. But then again, maybe not. Sadly, neither of those beautiful gadgets can easily slip into my jeans pocket, nor can they be held up to my ear without making me look awkward. Apart from that, would it be sensible to have such a small device to take notes on in class? Wouldn’t the size restrict my taking meaningful notes? With drawings, and, tables and those oh-so long calculations? You know, all the good stuff my wonderful engineering Profs try to impart to us willing students. Would it therefore be a good idea to get any of those? For financial reasons I’d say no, since I’m still ‘paying for’ (in the way of lack of money) the purchases of the tablet, and E90. But still, maybe my intense desire for convergence is not worth the hullabaloo, pursuing after, and my ultimately working toward. Maybe having one device that can go everywhere and do everything is really not possible. And maybe my desire to be so mobile would be useful only for a few hours of the day and on weekends if I’m still doing this job after a while. Can anyone consider changing his/her life’s profession just to satisfy and/or quiet his/her tech lust?

So I've recently taken to purchasing tech gifts for myself; Well it's not that recent, but they're there nonetheless. And I must say that I'm absolutely enjoying them. I've just become a tablet fan and I hope the next semester justifies my going broke to get one. Here's my newest baby now.
Ahhh, sweet freedom. I actually think that I'm going to miss writing in books, I won't miss their weight in my backpack certainly, but it'll be so different. I wonder if it won't be too much to have though? Baah! We'll have to see then. I love inking! It is absolutely fab, rad, and totally feels good. Now I feel that all computers need to be at least pen-based. Its just so much more functional.

I wonder how these two are related. It seems that every couple of weeks, I get very emotional and I cry a lot about a lot of things. I wonder, I wonder, I wonder... Well this last time it seems more things than that made me upset. Some classes have been weirdly frustrating... In fact I just need to get a stress ball. I have no idea if it wouldn't exacerbate the 'Carpal-tunnel-like' symptoms I've been having in my right hand... Anyways.... I'll be back with an update. New things are definitely beginning over here.

I'm happy to say that I can now blog from my phone. So I didn't really need Lifeblog as I believed I did? Its all good. This means that this show can continue when I'm on the road.

As a random aside I'm feeling very emotional. I don't know why but its horrible. My classmates already complain that I don't smile, then to join with moodiness.... I dislike this thing sha. Hopefully i won't use food to make me feel better.

I feel for my heart say na international ministry na im I get... But we go generally see. Hope say una dey well oh... So I've found that I'm very giving, direct, straightforward, no BS (excuse my bad language) and so on and so forth. Because of this seeming wrong I've walked into hurtful situations. I've also noticed that I'm pretty laconic when presenting my thoughts on paper. That's for another day anyway.

My head just gets so twisted up when I meet people who say things but don't mean them, or are just plain mean. And this coming from the highly suspicious, extremely observant one who hardly believes anyone (at least I tell myself that but I really don't). I wonder why, why am I the one to jam these people on the way to their messing up someone else's day, week, year, life? Why me, who is just sweet, knows what she wants, is loving, I mean I'll go out of my way for someone I love. But its thrown in my face like a pack of soggy cards, like some day-old quaker oats (which I detest by the way, if its not garri, it cannot be garri, but that's for yet another day).

How the hell do I get out of this? How for goodness sake can I keep my heart under wraps and not care about anyone else? How do I erase this "nature" from my moral fiber and say "forget the rest of the world?" HOW?????? Tears even fail me at this point. Have you ever felt the need to hold onto yourself and you see yourself slipping into nothingness? Try moving away from home.

I went off on a tangent there but maybe I need to do this more often. Ranting from time to time helps things get clearer, and develop a plan of action....yeah right, my inner "whutevuh" sneers at me.

Oh well, as usual I'm not finishing this up. I prefer to do it in my brain, or if a deadline is staring me in the face. Yeah I love that adrenaline rush, and the consequent feeling of satisfaction. Us over-achiever types thrive on that kind of lifestyle. Oh well, Adios.

So I didn't go to the Life group meeting. I missed it by a long shot because we had an extremely busy day in the office. I was watching the minutes slip by, and also watching my chance to leave early slip away. Sad, but necessary. So another two weeks till the next one. Lets see.

End of year, beginning of summer

Well a lot has happened this past semester, and I walked away from some things which weren't doing me any good. It made me feel lighter and in a couple of ways a bit more matured. I hope to get back to my old footing in my faith, rather than this lackadaisical, haphazard walk I've been doing. Sha, sha, its all good. God dey.

Now I need to concentrate on work, my diet, and improving myself. I'll also try to come to this blog more often...ket y'all in on the gist of things and generally unload stuff from my emotions. Congrats to me, I hope to get a tv this summer. Maybe that'll take some boredom out of my life. I'm also making a commitment to join a life group. Our next meeting (my first) is next Tuesday. Well, we'll see how that goes.

On this sad issue, I raise a few questions that run through the videos below.

Why do we not learn from our mistakes of the past?
Is it a conspiracy?
Following #2, will there be more as the elections near?
Can't corruption be completely hauled and tossed out the window in Nigeria?
Are the methods and results of the "immediately ordered" investigation going to be the same as the results of other reports and investigations tendered to Mr. President? Null and void?
Will the President, Senate, and House of Reps be ready to pass the needed laws ensuring that aircrafts which fly in Nigeria are 5 years old or less?

Too many questions arise.... But are we all willing to do what it takes to right the wrong?

Hectic week

I feel even worse than when I started. Can you imagine, I was just ready to publish today's blog and clicked on the spell checker, and all I had typed just disappeared....boo hoo....
Anyway, all is not lost: my fingers still exist. :)

Midterms are officially over, but I fear that I did right badly. I just can't find the zest to do my work like earlier in the semester. That means time for a change in strategy. My midterm grades were far less than what I expected. They're not bad in themselves, but to have a 4.0 I need to get all A's right? Right; so I'll go ahead and restrategize and come up with a more effective plan to conquer the courses... Starting with a new timetable...boring but necessary.

Till I see you again. Most likely after the homecoming parade, which is on Saturday. The town is already getting full of people.

I spoke to my folks today. Things were getting too crowded in my head and I had to air the grey matter a bit. Two hundred sobs, and a thousand sniffles later, I was happy. I'm very grateful to God for giving me loving parents who always turn me to Him. I'm glad to know that I have a listening ear always...either from my mum and dad, or from my Heavenly father.

I've been longing for an avenue to express myself and I'll take advantage of this medium until things become.
